Okay, so you have stumbled across my blog and is all, who is this? What does she do? Where is she going? Blah Blah Blah. Well I will tell you.
My name is Kira, and the title of my blog Destination Japan! should have given you some inkling into what this blog here is all about. My travel to Japan, or journey to get there rather. I'm at 25 years old, and live in North Carolina, or others like to call it North Cakalaki. Whichever you prefer.
Okay so here is the dilly'O. I am planning a LEGENDARY trip to Japan. I will spending 2 months over there at a school called Genki Jacs. It is a Japanese language and culture school. I have done some extensive research on the area and the school, and I think I have made a good choice. The staff there are really nice, and really helpful. The school is in Fukuoka, which is on the southern part of Japan, kinda on an island. It about a 4 hour train ride from Tokyo. If anyone wants to go to Japan and to a language school I hope you will consider this school.
Okay, so what have I done so far to prepare for this trip! Well that's a great question. Well first and foremost I don't know any Japanese, so umm that would be a start wouldn't it. So yeah for months now I have been trying to tackle the basics of the language, for one of the requirements to the school, is that you can at least read the language. Tall order? Honestly hardly, that is the easy part in fact, at least to me. I have also applied for my first passport, which I have to say was really exciting. Yes call me a geek if you will, but I don't travel a lot so, never had no reason to get one. I'll give you an update on that when it comes. I also bought new luggage. I had to. My brother busted my other, and my other luggage wouldn't hold for 2 months anyway. I am not going to need a lot of luggage, but I will need more than one checked and one carry on I can tell you that much. Here is a lookie see at my new Eddie Baauer Luggage, fancy smancy right? HA HA
And yes that is Wii game in the background. I have dubbed that console Da* Wiines. Yeah it's hot. Ha ha
I have also met some friends on a language site that is ran by Rosetta Stone, the language company. Its called Shared Talk. And you can meet people from all over the world, and you can learn their language and you can help someone else with learning yours. It is really a neat site. And I am glad I found it. Check it out if you are interested in learning a language. You can text chat, or voice. I must admit though having the program Skype helps, b/c most of the people you meet are going to have this program and it is better to text, video, and voice chat on. And it is free. So no matter where you are in the world if you and the other person have Skype, then its free. How flippin' cool is that. I do recommend getting a headset! I got one by Logitech from Wal-Mart for 40 bucks, and it clearly said Skype approved and it is a great headset, totally worth the 40 bucks. But you can find some at all prices and all designs.
Going to Japan of course isn't going to be cheap. I need about $15,000 to get over there. That will pay for Tuition to the school, apartment, plane ticket, money to live on, and money to pay my bills over here while I'm gone. Yeah, can't forget about those. In this budget also included my passport, luggage, and travel supplies. So, I'm kinda there ha ha. But more on all the travel details later.
Well kiddos that is the long and short of it for now. I hope you have enjoyed my first entry, and hope that you continue to read on as I hopefully can make my way to Japan. Here below are some links to my other sites, that has a blog, and videos. I hope you enjoy!
